DC JazzFest 2026 will once again deliver a veritable cornucopia of jazz flavors and vivid colors, presenting a tantalizing bounty of the music that makes 21st century jazz an evolving, multi-stylistic expression. As an international jazz festival, one of our primary responsibilities is to showcase an appealing and mind-expanding range of the stylistic nuances that make jazz such a broad and vibrant art form, including presenting various musical streams that are stylistically jazz-adjacent and reflect the influence of jazzAnd there is no better way to musically celebrate DC’s 250th than through the music of legendary DC funk & jazz go-go pioneer Chuck Brown, as embodied by the ever-popular Chuck Brown Band. They will be joined by a “very special guest” to be announced shortly. Where else but DC JazzFest are you going to find such a broad range of tantalizing jazz expressions? Nowhere….

The Richmond Folk Festival is one of Virginia's largest events, drawing visitors from all over the country to downtown Richmond's historic riverfront. The Festival is a FREE three-day event that got its start as the National Council for the Traditional Arts’ National Folk Festival, held in Richmond from 2005-2007. The Richmond Folk Festival features performing groups representing a diverse array of cultural traditions on six stages.

The Chuck Brown Band, fronted by Chuck’s son Wiley Brown, brings to life the hypnotic, danceable tunes of Go-Go, the genre created by the late Chuck Brown (“the Godfather of Go-Go”). Believed to be the only form of expressive culture to originate in the District of Columbia, Go-Go is deeply rooted in funk, soul and jazz and foreshadowed many of the R&B styles that were born later in history.
